Webinar: The Stars Are Lined Up for Military Spouses
In this episode, “The Stars Are Lined Up for Military Spouses,” federal career coach and resume expert Kathryn Troutman shares how military spouses can launch a career in the federal government through the Priority Placement Program, which gives preference to these candidates when they apply for Defense Department civilian positions. Troutman explains how to use the program’s self-certification checklist, eligibility requirements and the documentation needed to apply. Reference – Winner
Kathryn Troutman’s “Transitioning Your Federal Resume to Private Industry: A Step-by-Step Guide” won this year’s Independent Press Award for Reference. Career – Distinguished Favorite
Kathryn Troutman’s “Federal Resume Guidebook,” Eighth Edition, was recognized as a Distinguished Favorite in this year’s Independent Press Awards’ Career category. Calling the book an “essential compass for the new federal job market,” the IPA commended Kathryn’s approach to “guide candidates through the turbulent transition from verbose, traditional federal resume to the sharp, targeted format” OPM now requires. In October 2024, Kathryn Troutman received the Moxie Award for the Women-Owned Business category for that year. The Moxies recognize professional boldness, innovation, courage and savvy by enterprises, nonprofits and associations in the Metro DC area since 2017. NRWA Industry Hero Award (2002)
The National Resume Writers’ Association recognized Kathryn Troutman in 2002 as a “pioneer in the world of federal resume writing.” The award honored Kathryn for her significant contributions to federal resume writing, including founding The Resume Place, designing the modern federal resume format, introducing the Ten Steps to a Federal Job® method, and creating the Certified Federal Job Search Trainer and Career Coach program.
