$260 – One Hour 2-Page SES Resume Consultation
For GS-14/15 Federal Government Leaders
and Corporate Executives Seeking SES roles
New strategies are required to navigate the detailed requirements and to succeed at every level of the new SES hiring and OPM vetting process. This new process is covered in detail in OPM’s new SES Guide, published this fall on OPM’s website: Click here
Helping candidates address OPM’s complex new requirements, set forth in the text of the Guide and in 4 detailed Appendices, as well as those set forth in the new style of agency SES Job Opportunity Announcements, the Resume Place offers competent, professional support.
Do candidates need detailed support at every phase of the hiring process?
Yes. Here’s why:
2. Meanwhile, to be selected for an SES position, resumes must also address the Technical Qualifications (TQs) specified by the hiring organization’s Job Opportunity Announcement.
3. Then, candidates must undergo a detailed agency interview process, which varies, depending upon whether the candidate is already SES certified.
4. Following the hiring agency’s own interview and selection process, candidates must undergo an entirely separate structured interview process, governed by OPM’s new Qualifications Review Board (QRB) procedures. Candidates must answer questions within specific timeframes, meeting specific response requirements. They must also sign and comply with a new confidentiality agreement.
Where to start: Our introductory, 1-hour consultation. During this consult, one of our experienced SES strategists will walk you through the process, from resume preparation to agency interview, and ultimately preparation for the QRB ECQ validation process.
Based on candidate needs and questions raised during the consult (via Teams, Zoom, or by phone, as the candidate prefers) the consultant will cover some or all of the following subjects:
• How should you address the new ECQ requirements, substantively, particularly with respect to the new ECQ1 (“Commitment to the Rule of Law and the Principles of the American Founding”), but also the other four competencies and their sub-competencies?The hiring agency’s TQs must also be addressed in the new 2-page resume, yet OPM’s new SES Guide and sample resume makes no mention of them. How then, are you supposed to include them? And what can or should you do if your ECQs and TQs overlap?
• The hiring agency will have its own candidate selection and interview process. How does one identify and resolve potential conflicts between OPM’s and the agency’s potentially different interview process?
• Moreover, what (if any) Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are allowed by the agency and helpful to this process?
• OPM sets forth the required structure – the CCAR – for answering ECQ interview questions. You should make the most of this structure from the outset – not just at the interview phase, but in framing leadership level accomplishments in the resume itself. We will explain.
• What should you do with your resume if you are already SES certified? Do you need to reframe your existing SES resume content to meet the new ECQs? What else might you need to do with it?
Following the initial consult with your Resume Place executive strategist and resume writer, a detailed quote for supplemental services will be prepared, tailored for your specific needs. Are you a Criterion A, B or C candidate? Do you have existing ECQ narratives? Or all you starting from scratch? These and other considerations will be taken into account. You will also be provided with an realistic, 2-page SES resume sample.
The quote may cover the following levels of support, based on the candidate’s individual expression of need:
B. Review your Top Ten leadership accomplishment summaries, based on the new ECQs, and determine where the accomplishments address and/or fail to address the new ECQ competencies and sub-competencies.
C. Provide guidance should you need supplemental CCARs or added content in the existing summaries.
D. Discuss and provide support for CCAR summaries to address the hiring agency’s TQs.
E. Prepare your new 2-page SES resume, whether in the first instance, revise an existing resume for a new application, or, make post-selection tweaks to meet QRB requirements and ensure any internal agency “shop-talk” is understandable (or even necessary) for these external reviewers.
F. Later on, based on need, we can also quote services for SES interview preparation, either in brief form (75 minutes) or to include a second, follow-up session, to include a recorded mock interview and critique (3 hours, total).
